Get your new Portland Timbers kit and then grab a Chipotle burrito | The Backcut
In case you missed it, the new Portland Timbers secondary and third kits are out just in time for Saturday’s MLS regular season opener against the Philadelphia Union at Providence Park (7:30pm PT, ROOT SPORTS, 750 The Game).
Saturday’s game will mark the match debut of the brand new green-and-gold retro style third kit, which will give an added buzz at the stadium.
- BUY: New Timbers kits
With all the excitement going on for the opener, we’re guessing you might get hungry ahead of the game. Our friends at Chipotle Mexican Grill are happy to help.
Chipotle will be offering a Buy-One-Get-One deal on any entrée on March 8 only to any fan wearing Timbers gear in any Portland-area restaurant. Scarves, hats, t-shirts, the brand new kits (primary, Rose City Red, third) . . . they all work.
- EAT: Chipotle Locations
The event is the beginning of a new partnership between the Timbers, Chipotle and MLS. Chipotle is also the sponsor of the inaugural Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game to be held during the AT&T MLS All-Star Week in Portland later this summer. While details about rosters and the game format are yet to come, the match will feature the best Homegrown players from around the league.
But first things first: This Saturday, grab your Timbers gear, grab a friend and head to the nearest Portland-area Chipotle ahead of the game. You’ll need all that energy to bring the noise at the match. And don't forget to save room for any of the myriad new eats at Providence Park!
