Timbers' Gordon named 'Player of the Week'

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Timbers rookie forward Alan Gordon has been honored as the A-League’s Player of the Week for Week 13 in recognition of a three-goal performance in the Timbers’ 6-1 victory over the Edmonton Aviators on July 8, it was announced Tuesday.

It was the third time this year that Gordon garnered the honor, previously winning the award in the sixth and seventh weeks of the season.

Gordon tallied his second hat trick of the campaign in the Edmonton match, scoring in the 11th, 49th and 60th minutes. He leads the A-League with 14 goals and 29 points on the season.

Halfway through his rookie season, Gordon already ranks among the leaders on the Timbers A-League all-time scoring list.

Next up for Gordon and the Timbers is a U.S. Open Cup match against the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday, July 14 at PGE Park. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
