Timbers Insider: Re-live Week 11

June 26 - The Timbers were eliminated from the U.S. Open Cup in a 2-1 loss to the Seattle Sounders at the Starfire Sports Complex. Defender Cameron Knowles was sent off in the 41st minute for a foul in the box. Former Timber Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar converted the resulting PK to tie the match at 1-1. In the 70th minute, Seattle netted the game-winning goal on a header by Jake Besagno. Defender Justin Thompson gave Portland a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute on his first goal of the season.
June 28 - Rookie forward David Hague netted his first career goal in the 89th minute as the Timbers captured a 1-0 road win over the California Victory. Hague, who entered the match as a sub in the 79th minute, recieved a long ball over the top by goalkeeper Josh Wicks. After two touches, Hague burried his shot on the far post past Victory goalkeeper Eric Reed.
June 30 - Playing their third match in five days, the Timbers maintained their unblemished record at home with a 1-0 win over Miami FC on a 90th minute goal by midfielder Lawrence Olum. Midfielder Andrew Gregor set up the game winner on a 55-yard free kick. In the contest, Wicks picked up his sixth shutout of the season to match the Timbers' modern franchise record for shutouts in a single season.
