Timbers sign Jordan for two more years

PORTLAND, Ore.The Portland Timbers have signed forward Bryan Jordan to a new two-year contract, it was announced today. As a rookie, Jordan is the Timbers’ second leading scorer this season.

“Signing Bryan to a new contract is a great step for the Timbers organization,” said head coach and general manager Gavin Wilkinson. “He’s a hard working, dedicated player and displays the mentality this organization has adopted. With six players under contract for next season, even now, we are starting to build a core of players for 2008.”

Jordan, 22, recorded five goals and an assist in 26 matches during the regular season. He was a two-time USL First Division Team of the Week selection after tallying two goals and an assist in the first full month of the 2007 season. Jordan was also selected by fans as the team’s “Man of the Month” for the month of May.

“This is a great opportunity for me,” said Jordan. “The Timbers have a great coaching staff, great fans and are great teammates. Playing in Portland allows me a chance to continue to develop and display my abilities. I’m excited to be back.”

In addition to Jordan, who played his collegiate soccer career at Oregon State University, defenders Cameron Knowles and Kevin Meissner, midfielders Andrew Gregor, Tom Taylor, Lawrence Olum, Luke Kreamalmeyer, and forward Chris Bagley are all under contract for the Timbers’ 2008 season.
