Knighton recalled by New England

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers announced today that goalkeeper Brad Knighton was recalled by Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution and will miss Portland’s match on Friday in Vancouver. Knighton has been on loan with the Timbers since July 2.
Knighton, 23, rejoined New England earlier this week following an injury to goalkeeper Matt Reis (right adductor strain) on Aug. 16, and served as the backup in the club’s 2-1 win over D.C. United on Wednesday. He has not made an appearance with New England this season.
In eight USL First Division matches with the Timbers, Knighton has a 1-3-4 record, 27 saves, one shutout and a 1.25 goals-against average. He was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 15 on July 29.
The Timbers face the Vancouver Whitecaps on Friday at Swangard Stadium at 8 p.m. on Fox Soccer Channel.
