Timbers team up with Sportsradio 95.5 The Game

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today announced that they have entered into a multi-year partnership with Sportsradio 95.5 The Game to broadcast the majority of the team’s road games and select home matches live on the all-sports FM station, which will serve as the team’s exclusive English-language radio broadcast partner.

Veteran Timbers announcer Andy McNamara returns for a ninth season and once again will be joined by John Strong, a Sportsradio 95.5 The Game on-air personality, in calling the action this season.

“I am very pleased to announce our partnership with 95.5 The Game,” said Merritt Paulson, president of the Timbers. “This is terrific news for Timbers fans.”

“We’re thrilled to bring the Portland Timbers to the FM airwaves on Sportsradio 95 Five The Game,” said James Derby, director of programming at Sportsradio 95.5 The Game. “Our partnership with the Timbers is a win for soccer fans throughout the Portland metro area.”

The 15-game broadcast schedule on 95.5 The Game, which includes nine road matches and six home contests, begins when the Timbers open the 2009 season at Vancouver on April 25.

Additionally, streaming broadcasts for all 30 regular-season games and potential exhibition and postseason matches will continue to be available online at www.portlandtimbers.com.

The Timbers open their 2009 home schedule at PGE Park on April 30 against the Carolina RailHawks at 7 p.m. Season tickets, starting at $150, are available for the upcoming season by contacting the Timbers ticket office at (503) 553-5555.
