PORTLAND, Ore. – United Soccer Leagues announced today that Portland Timbers forward Mandjou Keita was named the USL First Division Player of the Week for Week 18. He led the Timbers with a goal and two assists in a pair of wins last week at PGE Park.
Additionally, Timbers midfielder Alex Nimo and defender Cameron Knowles were selected to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 18.
Keita, 29, earned his third USL First Division Player of the Week selection this season with a one-goal, two-assist performance in a 3-1 win against the Charleston Battery over the weekend. He leads the league in scoring with 20 points from eight goals and four assists, and ranks among USL First Division leaders in goals scored.
Nimo, 19, recorded his first goal and assist as a member of the Timbers in the match against the Battery. Week 18 marks his third Team of the Week selection this season, previously earning honors in Weeks 5 and 9. Knowles has played 1,710 minutes in 19 matches during the 2009 campaign.
