Timbers' Open Tryout reaches limit as combines near

PORTLAND, Ore. – In just a few weeks, the Timbers will conduct their annual Open Tryout and Invite-Only Combine as the club scouts talent for 2010. The club’s Open Tryout has reached capacity with hopefuls looking to make the roster; limited space remains for the Invite Combine.
Think you have what it takes to join the Timbers? The annual Invite-Only Combine will take place on Jan. 30-31. Players interested in participating in the combine must submit an application form and playing resume to the Timbers by Friday, Jan. 15. Click here for details.
The Open Tryout runs the previous weekend, Jan. 23-24.
The Timbers have discovered several roster players through their tryouts and combines. Recently, forward George Josten and midfielder Josh Cameron were signed following the 2009 combine. A handful of Timbers U-23s standouts came through last year’s tryouts as well, including goalkeeper Garrett Staples, midfielder Jordan Crasilneck and forward Ryan Youngblood, who was a Premier Development League all-conference selection in 2009. Who will be next?
