Timbers announce 2010 Nike soccer camps schedule
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today announced the club will conduct 10 youth soccer camps, presented by Nike, throughout the greater-Portland area during the 2010 season, including five at PGE Park.
Designed for boys and girls of all ages and skill levels, Timbers Nike Soccer Camps are led by the team’s coaches and players. Each camp is centered on age-appropriate exercises and activities designed to maximize instruction, develop technical improvement and build a love for the game. The camp curriculum includes the Timbers’ unique character-building program T.R.E.E.S., which teaches life skills within the framework of soccer.
The Timbers’ 2010 camps schedule features five camps for players as young as five years old, a goalkeeping-focused camp led by Timbers goalkeeper coach Adam Smith and a high school prep camp for older players aged 12-18. Most camps are designed for players ages 8-14.
In addition to professional, on-field instruction in a fun and educational environment, each camp participant receives a Nike soccer ball, official camp t-shirt and a ticket to an upcoming Timbers match at PGE Park. Cost for camps range from $90-150.
Once again in 2010, the Timbers camps schedule is complemented by a fantasy camp designed for adult soccer players looking for the ultimate Timbers experience. Featuring instruction from Timbers coaches, the fantasy camp will include a full training session, a soccer match between participants, personalized Timbers kits, a commemorative DVD of the day complete with match commentary by a Timbers broadcaster and a chance to play with current Timbers players. The Timbers fantasy camp will be held Sunday, Aug. 8, at PGE Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs $175.
