Scoring a goal against your former team (Columbus) in front of your new home fans to give your team (Portland) the 1-0 victory is an awfully popular thing to do. It's a good bet it helped Eric Brunner become the runaway winner for the CenturyLink Man of the Match--as chosen by you, the fans--for the Portland Timbers vs. Columbus Crew game this past Saturday.

Troy Perkins, coming in second, had some game-saving stops for the Timbers while Jorge Perlaza provided some electrifying runs throughout. On Brunner's goal (see below), it was due in part to Kalif Alhassan's looping cross into the box that was begun by Jack Jewsbury's quick start on a free kick. Clearly a team effort all around.
