Timbers re-sign goalkeeper Troy Perkins, defender David Horst

Portland exercises options on 16 players, declines options on seven

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers have re-signed goalkeeper Troy Perkins and defender David Horst to new contracts and exercised the contract options for 16 players, it was announced today. Timbers general manager/technical director Gavin Wilkinson made the announcement.

Additionally, the club announced that it has declined the contract options for goalkeeper Adin Brown, defender Kevin Goldthwaite, midfielders Rodrigo Lopez, Peter Lowry and Ryan Pore and forwards Spencer Thompson and Brian Umony.

With today’s announcements, the Timbers currently have 22 players on their roster heading into the 2012 Major League Soccer season. The current roster includes:

Goalkeepers (2): Jake Gleeson, Troy Perkins
Defenders (8): Eric Brunner, Mike Chabala, Futty Danso, David Horst, Lovel Palmer, Steve Purdy, Chris Taylor, Rodney Wallace
Midfielders (8): Eric Alexander, Kalif Alhassan, Freddie Braun, Diego Chara, Jack Jewsbury, James Marcelin, Darlington Nagbe, Sal Zizzo
