PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers U-23s today announced the addition of midfielders Nick Hamer and Will Seymore to the team’s 2012 roster. Both Hamer and Seymore are eligible for the Timbers U-23s’ match Saturday against Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23.

Hamer (Spokane, Wash.) finished his sophomore season with the Gonzaga Bulldogs in 2011, starting all 15 matches last season and recording two goals and two assists. As a freshman, Hamer, 20, was named to the West Coast Conference All-Freshman Team after being one of only two Bulldog players to start all 19 matches. He scored his first collegiate goal against Loyola Marymount during the final home match of the 2010 season. At Mead High School in Spokane, Wash., Hamer was a three-time All-Greater Spokane League selection and following his senior prep season was named to the Washington 4A All-State Team.

Seymore (Soham, England) started all 17 matches at Oregon State University in 2011, scoring his first collegiate goal in the season opener against the University of Portland on Aug. 27. He led all Beaver freshman with three assists. From England, Seymore, 20, played club soccer for Soham Town Rangers and helped the team win the Cambridgeshire League Championship in 2009. He was also a three-year member and a cup-winner with the Cambridgeshire County Squad.

Seymore becomes the fourth player from Oregon State University on the Timbers U-23s’ roster in 2012, joining collegiate teammates Chris Harms, Roberto Farfan and Emery Welshman.

The Timbers U-23s play their first road match of 2012 season Saturday against Whitecaps FC U-23 at the University of British Columbia; kickoff set for 2 p.m.
