In his first full season with the Portland Timbers, goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts has continued to make exhiliarting saves that seemingly defy the laws of physics. For those who have followed his career, this is no surprise. The Jamaican international was the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2010, but has never appeared in an MLS All-Star Game.

However, Ricketts has shown this season why he is a clear candidate for his inclusion in the 2013 MLS All-Star Game on July 31, 2013 against AS Roma.

Sometimes his saves happen on a national stage and are necessary to remain level:

Other times, Ricketts works his magic to preserve a win on the road:

We also know this:

  • Ricketts is a six-time MLS Save of the Week winner in 2013
  • He leads MLS with eight shutouts on the season
  • Has a current individual shutout streak of 396 minutes (May 18-25; June 15-current), which is his third shutout streak of 200 or more minutes in 2013
  • Helped lead the Timbers to an MLS-club record 15-game unbeaten streak
  • Starter for Jamaica during 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying
