After a season-and-a-half with the Houston Dynamo, Palmer joined the Timbers, along with Mike Chabala, midway through their inaugural season from Houston in exchange for midfielder Adam Moffat and allocation money on July 21. The eight-year professional was signed by Houston on March 19, 2010, after seven seasons with Harbour View FC of the Jamaican National Premier League.

2007-08: Helped Harbour View to Caribbean Football Union championship, after memorable 10-9 shootout win over San Juan Jabloteh (Trinidad & Tobago) in the semifinals and 2-1 regulation win over Joe Public (Trinidad & Tobago) in the final ... 2006-07: Captained Harbour View to 2007 National Premier League championship ... Scored eight of team’s league-high 67 goals in regular season.
