Timbers to scrimmage OUSA Saturday in Eugene

PORTLAND, Ore. - Breaking up an 11-day layoff between USL First Division games, the Portland Timbers will scrimmage the Oregon United Soccer Academy (OUSA) U-23 team on June 2 at Sheldon High School in Eugene, Ore. Tickets are $6; kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The match will be broadcast live on www.portlandtimbers.com.

The OUSA U-23 squad is comprised of former OUSA players who now play for college teams including Seattle Pacific, Washington, Oregon State, University of Portland, Vermont and Puget Sound.

Prior to the match, there will be a free futsal clinic for children ages 8-12 led by OUSA coach Jose da Silva from 3-4 p.m.

Formally established in 2002, OUSA is a Nike Premier soccer club for boys and girls ages 11-18 and based in Eugene, Ore.

TIMBERS STAT WATCH: BAGLEY NEARS 50-GAME MARK
A handful of Timbers players have reached or are near career statistical markers through the first six matches of the 2007 season. Forward Chris Bagley needs to play in just one more match to have played in 50 regular-season USL First Division matches in his career. Defender Lee Morrison played in his 105th regular-season match for the Timbers on May 11 and now needs just 19 more before he reaches current head coach Gavin Wilkinson at 124 games – third-most in modern franchise history.

Now with 41 career goals in the USL First Division, midfielder Andrew Gregor, this season, is currently fourth in the league in points (9), second in goals (4) and has taken 19 shots in six matches to lead the league. Goalkeeper Josh Wicks is currently ranked second in the USL First Division in goals allowed (4), tied for third in wins (3), tied for second in shutouts (3) and has posted the second-best goals-against average in the league at 0.67.

The Timbers next league match is June 8 in Montreal. The match will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel; kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. (Pacific).
