Poltl, Bagley make Team of the Week

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers midfielder Tom Poltl and forward Chris Bagley were selected to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 14, it was announced today. Combined, Poltl and Bagley recorded one goal and two assists leading the Timbers to two wins in three matches last week.




For the fifth straight week, the Timbers have had at least one player make the USL First Division Team of the Week. In total, nine different Portland players have been selected to the Team of the Week this season, including three who have been named Player of the Week.




Poltl helped the Timbers to a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps on July 19 at PGE Park with his first assist of the season. The third-year Timber set up ’s goal in the 29th minute as the Timbers tied the match at 1-1.




Bagley recorded a goal and an assist last week. Against Atlanta on Saturday, Bagley netted his first goal of the season in the 66th minute as the Timbers held on for a 1-0 win on the road and set a new franchise record with its seventh consecutive win. On July 19, Bagley redirected a cross by to for the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Vancouver.>




The Timbers, who have won seven of their last eight matches, host two matches this week at PGE Park. The Timbers will battle England’s Preston North End in The Oregonian Timbers vs. Preston North End Exhibition presented by Widmer on Saturday. Portland will play the Atlanta Silverbacks on Thursday.
