Two Timbers earn Team of the Week honors

Thompson
earned USL First Division Team of the Week honors for Week 19, it was announced today. Thompson and Gregor each helped the Timbers record wins last week over the Charleston Battery and Miami FC.
The Timbers earned six points from three matches in four days last week. With their individual performances, Gregor earned his fifth Team of the Week selection in Week 19, while Thompson received his second of the season.  
Thompson scored the deciding goal in a 1-0 victory over the Charleston Battery on Aug. 23 at PGE Park. His goal against Charleston was his second of the season; he scored previously in the U.S. Open Cup match against Seattle in June. In August, Thompson, 26, was a member of the backline that recorded three shutouts. He was a member of the USL First Division Team of the Week in Week 15.
Gregor, who was the USL First Division Player of the Week in Week 4, tallied a goal and an assist in a 2-1 road win against Miami FC over the weekend. The Timbers’ leading scorer netted his eighth goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 21st minute before assisting the game-winning goal with a corner kick to
Scot Thompson
late in the match.
Portland has had 13 different players make the USL First Division Team of the Week this season.
The Timbers make another trip to the East Coast on Saturday to play the Carolina RailHawks at SAS Soccer Park at 4:30 p.m. (Pacific). A live broadcast of the match will be available at
