Timbers host Vancouver in first round on Sept. 16

PORTLAND, Ore. –
The Portland Timbers will host their first-round, home playoff match on Sunday, Sept. 16, at PGE Park at 5 p.m. As the second seed, the Timbers will face the defending champion Vancouver Whitecaps in the first round.

In the first of the two-game series, Portland will visit the Whitecaps on Friday at Swangard Stadium at 7 p.m. The two teams will finish the series in Portland on Sunday at PGE Park. Sunday's match will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel.
Since joining the USL First Division in 2001, the Timbers have advanced to the playoffs in five of seven seasons. Their last trip to the postseason was in 2005.  
The top eight teams in the USL First Division advance to the playoffs which begin on Sept. 14. The first two rounds consist of a two-game, aggregate-goal series. The 2007 USL First Division champion will be determined in a one-game final hosted by one of the two finalists.
