Le Toux earns Player of the WeekTAMPA, FL – United Soccer Leagues announced the USL First Division Team of the Week for the 21st and final week of the regular season, honoring Seattle’s Sebastien Le Toux as the Player of the Week. Eliminated from the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in a thrilling marathon 2-1 overtime decision just two nights before, striker Sebastien Le Toux helped the Seattle Sounders put their Semifinal loss past them Thursday night as they drubbed the visiting California Victory 4-0. Josh Gardner, playing about 45 yards up from the goal on the left wing side, sent a long ball across the field, where Le Toux ran onto it just inside the top of he penalty area. Le Toux ripped a shot that deflected off the hand of Victory goalkeeper Eric Reed and bounced into the back left corner five minutes into the match. Le Toux made it 2-0 in the 24th. Roger Levesque, playing inside the box with his back to the goal, sent the ball out toward the left side where Le Toux rushed up to it, and from 10 yards up floated it over Reed into the back left corner. The French forward completed the hat trick in the 61st. Going one on one against Reed, Le Toux’ first shot was saved by the California keeper. But Reed wasn’t able to gain control of the ball, and before he could find his footing again, both the ball and Le Toux got behind him, leaving Le Toux wide open for a sharp-angle shot from the left six of the six-yard box that found the center of the net.The victory gave the Sounders the USL First Division lead by one point heading to the weekend, allowing the Sounders to capture the Commissioner’s Cup as the regular season champions Sunday night with a 1-0 win at Minnesota.
