Timbers to broadcast 2008 home games in Spanish

PORTLAND

– The Portland Timbers announced today a new partnership with KXPD “La X” 1040 AM to broadcast all regular-season home matches during the 2008 season in Spanish throughout the greater-Portland area. La X 1040 AM is a member of Churchill Media’s local La X network.
The Timbers’ new Spanish-language broadcast will feature a 25-minute pregame show and the play-calling of

. La X 1040 AM will also cover Timbers’ playoff, exhibition and U.S. Open Cup matches at PGE Park during the 2008 season.

In addition to match broadcasts, the Timbers will also team with La X 1040 AM on outreach efforts in the Latino community through a number of appearances and special events.

In conjunction with La X 1040 AM, a select number of the Timbers’ 2008 home matches will also be broadcast in Spanish on KLZS 1450 AM in Eugene. KLZS is a member of the La X network and an ESPN Deportes affiliate.
Timbers 2008 season tickets, starting as low as $142.50, are now available. The first 100 fans who purchase season tickets prior to Jan. 7 receive a wood slab from Timber Jim’s famous pole at PGE Park autographed by 2007 Timbers players.
