Timbers to play four matches on FSC in 2008

– The Portland Timbers are set to play four matches live on Fox Soccer Channel in 2008, it was announced today as United Soccer Leagues released its USL on Fox Soccer Channel lineup for the upcoming season.
Three of the Timbers’ four televised matches on FSC will take place on the road – May 30 at Montreal, June 27 at Carolina and Aug. 22 at Vancouver. The Timbers will host an FSC match Aug. 7 against the Seattle Sounders at PGE Park at 8 p.m.
In total, the USL on FSC schedule will feature 28 matches, including 22 USL First Division regular-season matches and three USL First Division postseason fixtures. FSC will also show the championship matches from USL’s Second Division, W-League and Premier Development League.
The weekly 2008 FSC schedule opens with the Montreal Impact visiting the Atlanta Silverbacks on April 25.
USL First Division postseason action on FSC will consist of a quarterfinal, second-leg match on Sept. 28, a semifinal, second-leg match on Oct. 5 and the championship match on Oct. 11.
USL Breakaway, the behind-the-scenes feature show that debuted in 2006, returns for a third consecutive season with three more episodes during the 2008 campaign. Specific air dates will be announced at a later time.
With the announcement of the USL on FSC schedule, the Timbers are slated to play a total of nine televised matches in 2008. In December, the Timbers announced the club will have five home matches televised on FSN during the season. The FSN schedule will be announced at a later date.
