Video News: A Tribute to Timber Jim

As the Timbers prepare for the upcoming 2008 USL First Division season, members of the team took the time to share their thoughts, favorite memories or experiences with Timber Jim in the latest edition of Video News.

On Thursday, the Timbers will honor long-time team icon Jim Serrill - better known as "Timber Jim" - with a special halftime ceremony highlighting his career on Timber Jim Retirement Night.

Serrill, better known as “Timber Jim,” announced his retirement from the organization in January after serving as the team’s icon for the better part of 12 seasons (1978-83; 2001-07). Starting in 1978 when the Timbers were members of the North American Soccer League, Serrill has become known for his high-wire acts around PGE Park and the tradition of sawing log slabs to help celebrate goals scored by the Timbers.
