PORTLAND
, Ore.

United Soccer Leagues announced today that Portland Timbers goalkeeper
Brad Knighton
and defender
Cameron Knowles
were named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 15.
Both players aided in the Timbers’ ninth shutout of the season in a scoreless draw against the Carolina RailHawks on July 24 at PGE Park. Knighton recorded five saves against Carolina to help preserve the shutout for the Timbers, who played nearly 40 minutes a man short due to a first-half ejection.
It’s Knighton’s first Team of the Week honor, while Knowles was selected for a third time this season.
On loan from New England Revolution of Major League Soccer, Knighton has appeared in four league games since joining the Timbers on July 2. He picked up his first shutout of the season against Carolina and has recorded a total of 16 saves in league fixtures.
Knowles has started all 20 games for the Timbers in 2008 and shares the league lead with 1,800 minutes played. Since joining the club in 2007, he has appeared in 51 consecutive league matches for Portland.
The Timbers visit the Minnesota Thunder on Saturday at the National Sports Center at 5:05 p.m. (Pacific). A live broadcast of Saturday’s match is available at
