Timbers Top 5 with forward Chris Brown

PORTLAND
, Ore.

In the latest edition of Timbers Top 5, forward
Chris Brown
takes a trip down memory lane as he selects his favorite places from around the world that his soccer career has taken him.
Having traveled around the country and visited different corners of the globe, Brown has seen first hand some of the most notable soccer venues and soccer-crazed countries throughout the world. His list includes some spectacular sights, and one in his own backyard.

1. Madrid, Spain – When I was with Real Salt Lake, we traveled to Spain and trained at Real Madrid’s training ground and went to a game. We had the opportunity to mingle with some of the Real Madrid guys and met David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Roberto Carlos and Robinho.
2. South Africa – In 2003, I had the opportunity to go to South Africa when I was with Kansas City for a three-game, pre-season tour. We visited an AIDS shelter for kids and also went on a safari.
3. England – I went to England when I was a part of the youth U.S. National Team. We played the youth teams of Liverpool with Michael Owen and Manchester United. We also went to the F.A. Cup final and saw a game at Old Trafford.
4. Brazil – When I was with the U.S. Olympic Team, we went down to Brazil and played against Brazil’s Olympic team. They beat us 6-0.
5. – Portland, Ore. – In particular, PGE Park / Civic Stadium. I won two of our four high school state championships here and I will always remember scoring on Timber Jim’s retirement night. I think PGE Park would make a great venue for Major League Soccer.
