Meet Suzuki, Nishimura at Cricket Wireless Wednesday

Meet forward Takayuki Suzuki and defender Takuro Nishimura on Wednesday at the Cricket Wireless store across the street from PGE Park on SW 18th St., in Portland. They’ll be greeting fans and signing autographs from 4-6 p.m.

Suzuki is in his second season with the Timbers in 2009. A former member of Japan’s National Team, Suzuki played in the 2002 World Cup and scored a goal against Belgium in the group round. He has 55 caps on the international stage. Suzuki’s 15-year professional career has taken him around the world including Japan, Brazil, Serbia and Belgium.
Nishimura joins the Timbers this season after playing several seasons in Japan’s top league, called the J-League.  He appeared in 90 league matches during his career in Japan with the Urawa Red Diamonds (2001-04) and Omiya Ardija (2004-08). Prior to his professional career, Nishimura led Kokushikan University to the All-Japan Prime Minister Cup.
