PORTLAND, Ore.
– United Soccer Leagues announced today that Portland Timbers midfielder
Tony McManus
was selected to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 13, after leading the team in a 1-1 draw against Minnesota Thunder on the road last weekend.
McManus, 28, scored his first goal of the season on July 4 against the Thunder to put Portland ahead in the second half, but Minnesota was able to find the equalizer during second-half stoppage time. On Saturday, McManus made his first league start since sustaining an injury on June 9. He has played in 10 matches and totaled 892 minutes for the Timbers this season.
The Timbers continue their road stretch Saturday against the expansion Austin Aztex at Nelson Field at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific). A live broadcast will be available on 95.5 The Game as well as online at
