Timbers sign forward Kevin Forrest

PORTLAND, Ore.
– The Portland Timbers have signed forward
Kevin Forrest
for the remainder of the 2009 USL First Division season, it was announced today pending league and USSF approval.




Forrest, 24, was a guest player for the Timbers in their exhibition match against German club Bayern Munich II on July 2, scoring a goal in the team’s 2-0 win at PGE Park. He has participated in training sessions with the club since Monday.




Prior to joining the Timbers, Forrest was a member of Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids and Seattle Sounders FC.




A native of Edmonds, Wash., Forrest was selected third overall by Colorado in the 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft. He played in one MLS Reserve Division match for the Rapids and appeared in nine games with the USL First Division Seattle Sounders while on loan last season as a rookie.




Forrest played collegiately at the University of Washington, where he was a three-time All-Pac-10 selection. He led the conference in scoring as a junior with 16 goals and was named the 2006 Pac-10 Player of the Year. He finished his college career ranked eighth among the school’s all-time leading scorers with 34 goals.




The Timbers face the Puerto Rico Islanders in a first-place matchup Thursday at PGE Park at 7 p.m. Portland then hosts English Premier League club Burnley FC on Saturday at PGE Park at 7 p.m., presented by Spirit Mountain Casino.
