Timbers face Northwest rival Vancouver in semifinals

As the top seed in the USL First Division playoffs, the Portland Timbers will face the No. 7 seeded Vancouver Whitecaps in the semifinal round this week, starting on Thursday in Vancouver. Series details will be announced later today.




The Timbers will host their Northwest rivals in the second leg of the series on Sunday, Oct. 4, at PGE Park at 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale now starting at $14 at the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster locations, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000.




The Timbers earned a first-round bye in the postseason as the 2009 Commissioner's Cup champion and start their championship-run in the semifinals. Vancouver defeated the No. 2 Carolina RailHawks in the quarterfinal series by an aggregate score of 1-0.
