The Clean Sheet: Taking time to reflect ...

Chronicling his rookie season, goalkeeper Matt Pyzdrowski checks in with his second installment of “The Clean Sheet.” After visiting Qwest Field for MLS’ First Kick last week, Matt ponders what’s to come for the club and updates preseason.

It’s Thursday, March 25 and the entire Timbers squad is sitting at the MLS First Kick between the Seattle Sounders and the Philadelphia Union thinking of what can only be in one year’s time.
We have been working so hard day-in and day-out in preparation for the upcoming season, but it was nice to take a moment and reflect into the future. This time next year we will be part of the MLS and we will be the ones in the spotlight for the MLS First Kick. To experience the excitement and electricity of the game first hand was a great experience and to see the passion and joy being put forth by the fans was nothing short of amazing.
Then I thought about what it will be like for us next season, knowing how excited our city and our fans are about this opportunity coming to a reality. You have been with us throughout the years and stuck by our side through the good and the bad and to finally get this reward is something very meaningful to us all. It is a moment that I have been thinking about ever since I became a Timber.
Moving back to the present, there are great things to come this season for the Timbers. Yes, we have had some great results thus far in preseason but we do understand that it is just that and the time that actually counts is right around the corner. It is something that every single player is chomping at the bit to experience. Our sessions have been demanding and full of intensity and to bring that onto the pitch this year will create a great buzz around the league. We have roughly three weeks left to prepare for this season and we are more than ready for it to begin!
