Timbers end preseason trip with loss to Kitsap

BREMERTON, Wash. –
Scoring two second-half goals, forward Robbie Christner led the Premier Development League’s Kitsap Pumas to a 3-2 win over the Portland Timbers Saturday in a preseason exhibition at Bremerton Memorial Stadium.
Midfielders
Ryan Pore
and
James Marcelin
each scored their first goals of preseason for the Timbers, who were reduced to 10 men for the final 33 minutes of the match. Midfielder
Rodrigo Lopez
was sent off in the 57th minute following his second caution of the match.
Making his first appearance with the Pumas, Christner capped his brace with the game-winning strike in the 70th minute. Tye Perdido also scored for Kitsap, which made its 2010 preseason debut against Portland.
Saturday’s contest wrapped up a five-day preseason trip to Bremerton, Wash., for the Timbers, and marked the club’s first loss of preseason. 
Pore’s tally helped the Timbers take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Perdido then answered with the equalizer early in the second half. After Lopez received his second caution of the contest, Christner put away the go-ahead goal for the PDL side. Portland’s James then leveled the score at 2-2, but it was Christner finding the back of the net once again 20 minutes from time to seal the win.
The Timbers resume their preseason training camp Monday in Portland. They open the 2010 USSF Division 2 Pro League season Saturday April 17 at PGE Park.
Notes:
Portland’s backline conceded three goals against the Pumas – all coming in the second half. Entering Saturday’s match, the Timbers backline had allowed just one goal in preseason play … Timbers midfielder
