The Clean Sheet: A day we've been waiting for ...

Gearing up for the Timbers season opener this weekend, rookie goalkeeper Matt Pyzdrowski sheds light on the preparation for the game, movign from preseason to the regular season and why he loves this game in the latest edition of “The Clean Sheet.”
Preseason is officially over and our mindset has directly turned to the season at hand. Our first game this Saturday is a date we have been looking forward to for a long time. It is the culmination of all our hard work for the past several weeks, numerous sessions on and off the field and it is our time to get after our goal of a league championship. As a team I believe we are exactly where we want to be for 2010’s opening kick and all the lads couldn’t be more ready.
This is the time that I have waited for my entire life and there is one question I have been asking myself of late in preparation. “Do I do what I do because I need to, want to and love to, or because I don’t know what else to do?”
Simply put soccer has become an addiction for me and it is all that I know and all that I am made of. There is a love and respect for the game that drives me every single day for moments like the one upon us, and this moment couldn’t be better for me personally. I’m in a place where I am more mentally ready than I have ever been for what is to come. This place is a new home with a new family, The Portland Timbers. Here is to an outstanding season in 2010.
