Marcelin recalled for Haiti National Team duty

PORTLAND, Ore. –
ThePortland Timbers today announced that midfielder
James Marcelin
was recently named to the Haitian National Team’s 18-man roster for a friendly against Argentina on May 5 in Argentina.




A member of Haiti’s National Team since 2007, Marcelin will join the team as it travels to South America on May 2 to face an Argentina squad playing one of its final matches before the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in June. Argentina is currently ranked No. 9 in the FIFA World Rankings.




Marcelin, a native of St. Marc, Haiti, has represented his country at both the youth and senior levels. He recently played in the 2009 Gold Cup, appearing in all four games in the tournament, including a 2-2 draw against the United States. Marcelin also saw time in the 2007 Gold Cup and a 2010 World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica.




While on national team duty, Marcelin will not miss a Timbers regular-season match. He is scheduled to return to Portland on May 6.
