FLIR, Timbers partner to aid Wounded Warriors Project

PORTLAND, Ore.
- FLIR Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: FLIR) announced today the “Saves for Soldiers” program through its partnership with the Portland Timbers USSF Division 2 Pro League team. During the season, which began Saturday, April 17, with their home opener at PGE Park in Portland, OR, FLIR will make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project for each goal saved by the Timbers. Fans will have the opportunity to also donate to support Wounded Warriors with details to be provided through in-stadium and on-air announcements.
“FLIR Systems is honored to continue our support of the Wounded Warrior Project and these injured American heroes and their families, all of whom are our neighbours right here in our own communities," said Bill Sundermeier, president FLIR’s Government Systems division. “Through the ‘Saves for Soldiers’ program we hope to highlight the many sacrifices made by our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen and to provide additional opportunities for each of us to show our proud support to this worthy cause."
FLIR Systems, with headquarters in Wilsonville, Oregon, has facilities in Billerica, MA, Orlando, FL, Bozeman, MT, Pittsburgh, PA, Colorado Springs, CO, Goleta, CA and Arlington, VA. FLIR employs over 2,000 people worldwide and is a leading supplier of thermal imaging cameras and night vision sensors for applications worldwide.
To date, over 34,000 members of our nation’s armed forces have been physically wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Include the hidden wounds of traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder, and that number sky rockets to over 300,000 service members. The injuries sustained in these conflicts are often devastating, leaving a formerly active young man or woman unable to care for themselves. While grateful for their return, the round-the-clock care required to treat these wounded warriors often falls on their families, giving caregivers no choice but to leave their jobs and forego healthcare of their own. WWP provides programs and services to assist injured veterans and their families during their recovery, rehabilitation and transition. Whether through caregiver retreats, combat stress programs, career and education services, or adaptive sporting opportunities, Wounded Warrior Project’s vision is to help make this generation of wounded warriors the most successful and well-adjusted in our nation’s history.
