Timbers U-23s face Victoria at PGE Park on Sunday

PORTLAND, Ore.
– The Portland Timbers U-23s return home from a two-game road trip to play host to the Victoria Highlanders on Sunday at PGE Park at 11 a.m. The matchup features two unbeaten teams from the Premier Development League’s Northwest Division.

Tickets are $5 and available for purchase through the PGE Park box office. Season passes, which allow entry into each regular-season home match throughout the greater-Portland area, are also still available.

Last weekend, the Timbers U-23s (4-0-0, 12pts) recorded shutout wins over the Spokane Spiders and Yakima Reds in a pair of road games. Goalkeeper
Jake Gleeson
logged both shutouts and forward
Brian
Ramsey
recorded two goals and an assist during the road trip to help the team extend its winning streak to four games to start the 2010 campaign.

One of three unbeaten teams in the Northwest Division, the Timbers U-23s share first place with the Highlanders and Kitsap Pumas at 12 points; all three teams have 4-0-0 records.

The Timbers U-23s open a two-game, regular-season series against the Highlanders on Sunday. Last season, Portland was 1-0-1 against Victoria, including a 2-2 draw in the Timbers U-23s’ first-ever match in team history on May 9, 2009, in Portland. The two sides complete the season series in Victoria on July 17.

The match against the Highlanders was rescheduled for Sunday at PGE Park due to an exhibition match between the USSF Division-2 Portland Timbers, the parent club of the Timbers U-23s, and Argentina’s Boca Juniors on Saturday at PGE Park at 7 p.m.

Sunday’s match begins a stretch of three consecutive home matches for the Timbers U-23s. They play host to the Kitsap Pumas on June 5, at Hare Field in Hillsboro, Ore., and Yakima on June 12, at Kiggins Bowl in Vancouver, Wash.
