PORTLAND, Ore.
– The Portland Timbers return to league play Sunday as they play host to the Carolina RailHawks at PGE Park at 6 p.m. Portland’s matchup against the RailHawks begins a stretch of three games in seven days.
The first 2,000 fans at PGE Park on Sunday receive a Timbers fleece blanket, courtesy of your Northwest Metro Kia Retailers and the all-new 2011 Kia Sorento. On a Kids Sunday, kids 12 and under can take advantage of the Timbers’ Kids-Eat-Free plan prior to kickoff. If the Timbers defeat the RailHawks, fans in attendance will receive a coupon for a free cookie dough from Papa Murphy’s.

The Timbers (3-3-2, 11pts) concluded the month of May with a 3-2 win over Argentine club Boca Juniors in an international friendly May 29 at PGE Park. Midfielder

scored the game-winning goal with a 90th-minute free kick and contributed an assist to help the Timbers end a run of five games without a victory. Portland begins one of its busiest months of the season, playing six regular-season matches in June.
Sunday’s fixture marks the first of two regular-season matches between the Timbers and RailHawks (3-3-2, 11pts) in 2010. Last season, the Timbers were 1-0-2 against Carolina, including a 2-0 victory over the RailHawks at PGE Park. Portland shut out Carolina in all three matchups in 2009. The two sides have split the all-time series 2-2-4 since Carolina joined the league in 2007. The Timbers are unbeaten (1-0-3) in four contests against the RailHawks at PGE Park.
