PORTLAND, Ore.
 – Approaching the final stretch until the launch of the team’s new crest in preparation for its inaugural Major League Soccer season, the Portland Timbers today released the third short-video in a series of four, outlining the features of the new logo and the considerations that went into its creation.
The third segment, “Chevrons: Story of Three,” is now available for viewing on the team’s websites,

.

A synopsis of the third vignette: "Our team history has three eras – NASL 1975-1982, USL 2001-2010 and MLS. The chevrons of our MLS crest are more than a graphic representation of trees. They pay tribute to our league history and growth."
The Timbers, who mark their debut MLS season in 2011, will unveil the team’s new crest at halftime of the United States-England match during a free World Cup viewing event at Director Park in downtown Portland on Saturday, June 12. The new logo symbolizes the Timbers ascent to Major League Soccer in 2011, proudly signifying Portland’s deserved place in top-flight soccer. Merchandise featuring the new logo will be available for purchase at Director Park immediately after the unveiling of the team’s new crest.
The June 12 viewing party begins at 11 a.m., with the United States-England match set for an 11:30 a.m. kickoff. Director Park is located at the corner of SW Taylor and Park Avenue in downtown Portland.
