2011 Supplemental Draft Picks

Welcome to MLS

The Portland Timbers made quick work of the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft this morning scooping up four players from the collegiate ranks.

The first round brought two selections. With the second overall pick in the first round of the Supplemental Draft, the team selected Spencer Thompson from University of California-Irvine. Spencer, an All Big West second teamer as a forward in 2010, had six goals and six assists in his senior campaign.

The Timbers second selection in the first round was Robby Lynch, a midfielder from the University of Evansville at 12th overall. While at Evansville, Lynch was the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2010.

Raymundo Reza, a forward from San Diego State University, was chosen in the third round at 20th overall. Reza led the Aztecs with six goals in 2010 and picked up All-Pac 10 second team honors.

Taylor Mueller, a defender from the University of Washington, was the 38th overall selection in the third round. Mueller was a fellow All-Pac 10 second team member with Reza while captaining a Husky team defense that ranked 13th in the NCAA in shutout percentage (0.5).
