PORTLAND, Ore.— The Portland Timbers today announced the club will participate in a series of preseason matches against Northwest rivals Seattle Sounders FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC as part of the Cascadia Summit, a three-day event hosted by Sounders FC, from March 4-6 at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash.
The Cascadia Summit will also feature forums involving the coaches and supporters groups from each club.
The Timbers play Sounders FC in the opening match of the Cascadia Summit on Friday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. Major League Soccer’s two 2011 expansion sides, Portland and Vancouver, will face off on Saturday, March 5, at 5 p.m.
All matches will be played at the Starfire Sports Stadium. Tickets are $10 for each day and go on sale Feb. 1 through www.SoundersFC.com or by calling (800) 745-3000. No ticket is necessary for the supporters event/coaches forum.
Portland and Vancouver supporters will each be allotted 500 tickets in specific sections for their matches with Sounders FC. For the match between the Timbers and Whitecaps FC, each supporters group will be allotted 1,300 seats, with 500 for Seattle fans. Seating is limited.
