Diego Chara was a 69th minute substitute in Colombia’s 2-1 victory over Bolivia in 2014 World Cup qualifying. Chara earned his second cap as a member of the Colombian National Team and was the first MLS summons since Freddy Montero in 2009. FutbolMLS.com talked about Chara's play (ESPANOL).


The Colombians’ second match in World Cup qualifying will come in a month’s time when they play host to Venezuela on November 11.

El Salvador earned their fourth win in 2014 World Cup qualifying and Timbers defender Steve Purdy recorded his first international goal in El Salvador’s 4-0 victory over the Cayman Islands. Purdy gave El Salvador a 2-0 lead at the rain-soaked Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador when he recorded his monumental first goal in international play in the match’s 12th minute. El Salvador now looks to their next step in World Cup qualifying with home and away matches coming up against Suriname in mid-November.


Futty Danso
Mamadou Futty Danso recorded his first goal for the Gambian National Team on Saturday to help the Gambians to a 1-1 draw in African Cup of Nations qualifiers.


The draw put Burkina Faso at the top of Group F; however, their eligibility to qualify is currently pending the eligibility of player Herve Zengue. If Zengue is ruled ineligible then The Gambia will win the group and qualify for the tournament. Gambian newspaper The Point with a short recap.


James Marcelin
James Marcelin has enjoyed a successful run in World Cup qualifying with the Haitian National Team as of late. After scoring a pair of goals in Haiti’s first two matches of World Cup qualifiers, Marcelin started in Haiti’s 7-0 dismantling of the US Virgin Islands and was a 46th minute substitution in Haiti’s 2-2 draw with Curacao.


Next up for the Haitians in World Cup qualifying is a pair of matches against group leader Antigua and Barbuda. Haiti currently trails Antigua and Barbuda by two points in the table.


Brian Umony
Brian Umony and the Ugandan National Team had one of their more successful runs in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers finishing with 11 points. However, in front of a capacity crowd of over 40,000 home fans in Namboole, the Cranes saw their chance at qualifying end on Saturday when they drew 0-0 with Kenya, placing Uganda one point short of first place Angola.
