PORTLAND, Ore. – Major League Soccer announced today that Portland Timbers midfielder Will Johnson has been named to the 2013 AT&T MLS All-Star gameday roster by Sporting Kansas City and MLS All-Star manager Peter Vermes.


Johnson, 26, is among the 20 MLS All-Stars confirmed on the roster that will compete against Italian club AS Roma at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan., on Wednesday, July 31. The game will be televised live by ESPN and UniMás at 6 p.m. (Pacific).

The Canadian international was selected for the second time in his MLS career through the MLS All-Star First XI fan vote, the results of which were announced on July 7.

Johnson played every minute of the first 17 matches of the regular season, helping lead Portland to a 15-game unbeaten streak – one of the longest in MLS history – over the first half of the campaign. The Timbers’ captain, Johnson has registered a career-high six goals and has matched a career-high with three assist in 2013.
