PORTLAND, Ore. – Fresh off being named Humanitarians of the Month by MLS WORKS in May, the Portland Timbers today announced a new charitable addition to the match-day experience at JELD-WEN Field. When the Timbers and Portland Thorns FC take the field, they will do so with a new partner Pointstreak 5050.

The Timbers and AC Portland are teaming together with Pointstreak 5050 on an innovative platform to raise funds for the Portland community and region through a new, electronic 50/50 raffle. The Pointstreak 5050 system enables tickets to be sold every match through electronic devices. Jackpot totals will be displayed in real time on the south-end scoreboard, LED ribbons and monitors throughout JELD-WEN Field.

"As an organization, the Timbers are proud to give back to the Portland community,” said Christa Thoeresz, Director of Community Relations for the Timbers. “Not only is it a huge win for our fans to get to experience the Pointstreak 5050 system at every match, but it helps us give back even more. This system is very successful in other professional sports leagues and we are proud to partner with AC Portland in bringing it to JELD-WEN Field.”

Starting with the Thorns FC home match on Wednesday, July 31, and the Timbers home match on Saturday, Aug. 3, fans have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets from the time gates open until the 60th minute. One winning ticket will be selected with the winner taking home half of the evening's net proceeds. The remaining proceeds will benefit AC Portland and Portland Timbers Community Fund.

Chris Meyer of Pointstreak added, "We are truly proud to partner with the Timbers organization and their continued support of youth-serving organizations in the Portland area. Likewise, we could not be more excited to work with AC Portland as their passion and support for youth involvement in the game rivals any other organization in the world.”

“AC Portland could not be more excited about the 50/50 raffle. The raffle proceeds will allow us to serve even more students in the Portland metro area. We strongly believe in the power of sport, especially soccer, to help transform lives. The Timbers, through Stand Together, share similar vision which makes this partnership a perfect fit. Plus, it allows us to work even closer with the best MLS organization out there!” said Ben Dudley, Executive Director of AC Portland.

About AC Portland
AC Portland supplies the tools to empower students to lead healthy lives, succeed academically, and inspire positive community engagement. The organization began in 2011 with the vision to transform communities and serve hundreds of local students through youth soccer.

AC Portland program participants receive programming four days per week, which keeps them active, healthy, and engaged in a positive and stable after-school activity. We run both the US Soccer Foundation’s Soccer For Success Program and America SCORES program. These programs focus on helping all participants to develop the confidence and life skills they need to succeed. We believe that by taking a holistic and comprehensive approach to youth-development programming, and by focusing on kids who need it the most, we CAN make a positive difference both for the next generation.
