Diego Valeri #3, Timbers vs. NY, 3.3.13

National Hispanic Heritage Month  is celebrated this year in the United States from September 15-October 15. As a result, FutbolMLS.com recapped the 10 best moments of the season so far by the league’s Latin American players.

Footballers from different origins across Central and South American appear in the Top 10, from some of them battle-hardened league veterans to rookies just starting to make a name for themselves.

From the same birth city of Maradona, comes another Diego that who produced one of the best goals of the season. In his debut for the City of Roses and inspired by his daughter Costanza, Diego Valeri produced a beautiful golazo.

Valeri is now among those mentioned as a contender for the MLS MVP award this season. After his arrival from argentine club Lanús, which is led by 2008 MLS MVP Guillermo Barros Schelotto, Valeri stole the hearts of the fans in Portland.

In just his first game, Valeri demonstrated his talent when he received the ball from outside the box, took a touch and then shot the ball from the outside edge. It was his first of many goals in 2013 and with his celebration, he mimed sending the goal to Constanza, his daughter, who likes to watch her dad on the computer.

We celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with one of the best current players of the MLS with the best of the Top 10 best moments of 2013. Enjoy.
