PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers, currently in first place in the Western Conference, today clinched a spot in the 2013 MLS Cup Playoffs. Portland will advance to the postseason for the first time as an MLS club.

The 2-0 loss by the Seattle Sounders on Saturday means that the Timbers cannot drop lower than 5th place in the Western Conference, guaranteeing the Timbers their first playoff appearance in Caleb Porter's first year in charge.

Individual-game ticket details for home playoff matches at JELD-WEN Field will be announced at a later time.

The first-place Timbers play host to Real Salt Lake tonight in their regular-season home finale at JELD-WEN Field; kickoff is 7:30 p.m. (Pacific). The matchup will be televised live on ROOT SPORTS, with radio broadcasts available on FM News 101 KXL and in Spanish on La Pantera 940 AM.
