It was little over a year ago that Portland Thorns FC were named as one of the inaugural teams in the new National Women's Soccer League.
What a busy twelve months.
Fresh from announcing the team name and crest in December of 2012, the Thorns landed in 2013 on a sprint. From the allocation of national team players to the first-ever NWSL College Draft, the first offseason was busy. There was preseason to begin, a friendly against fellow Soccer City USA inhabitant University of Portland and then the season itself to consider.
As such, it should come as no surprise that this first season--an NWSL Championship season at that--would have no shortage of memorable moments.
We culled it down to ten. Ten moments that stood out for their impact be it from a goal or a save on the field to shows of incredible fan support off the field to everything in between.
As the 2013 calendar year comes to a close, we ask you to vote for what you think was the most memorable moment out of a year of countless memories.
The 2014 season will be here before you know it, so take one last look back before gearing up for next year.
