Portland Thorns FC today announced that forwards Christine Sinclair (Canada) and Jackie Acevedo (Mexico) have been called up by their respective national teams for upcoming international matches.

Sinclair, 30, was named to Canada’s roster for an international friendly against the U.S. Women’s National Team on Friday, Jan. 31, at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. The match, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. (Pacific), will be broadcast live in the United States on Fox Sports 1. The Thorns FC forward recently earned her 200th international cap and was named the 2013 women’s BMO Canadian Player of the Year.

Much of Canada’s squad that took part in December’s Torneio Internacional de Futebol Feminino in Brazil is back with only a handful of changes. Eleven of the 19 players named to Canada’s roster play for teams in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Acevedo, 23, was named to Mexico’s roster for the Yongchuan Cup, which begins Feb. 11 with a match against North Korea. Mexico faces host nation China on Feb. 13 and finishes the tournament against New Zealand on Feb. 15. Acevedo is one of four forwards named to Mexico’s roster for the Yongchuan Cup by head coach Leonardo Cuellar.

Acevedo made her first appearance for the Mexico Women’s National Team on Nov. 24, 2013, in an international friendly against Canada at BC Place in Vancouver. The Austin, Texas, native entered the match as a second-half substitute.

Prior to the tournament, Mexico will hold a training camp from Jan. 26-Feb. 5 at the national training center in Mexico City.
