Portland Timbers' Donovan Ricketts tops crowded field to win second straight MLS Save of the Week award

Donovan Ricketts #2, Timbers @ RSL, 6.7.14

It's probably cold comfort for Donovan Ricketts, given that Clint Dempsey scored seconds later as the Seattle Sounders beat his Portland Timbers 2-0, but the Jamaican goalkeeper's astonishing double block on Sunday has won the Week 18 MLS Save of the Week award.

With 33.64 percent of votes cast, Ricketts narrowly outpaced the penalty-kick stop by Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando (31.32 percent) in another losing effort, RSL's 1-0 setback to the LA Galaxy.

Finishing some distance further back were Sean Johnson, producer of yet another fine PK save, Bill Hamid and Steve Clark.

It's the second consecutive GOTW triumph for Ricketts, who earned top marks a week ago for his denial of LA's Juninho, and his third of the 2014 season. Ricketts also set a club record in the game against the Sounders with eight saves.

Final Votes - Week 18:

1. Donovan Ricketts (POR): 33.64%
2. Nick Rimando (RSL): 31.32%
3. Sean Johnson (CHI): 14.97%
4. Bill Hamid (DC): 13.23%
5. Steve Clark (CLB): 6.83%
