#PORvSEA on #RCTID: sun-drenched supporters and tifo, BIG tifo

Social Media Header Aug. 24 2014

It was the final of three regular-season matches against archrival Seattle Sounders FC, and the late summer sun drenched the Timbers Army and supporters during the mid-day fixture at Providence Park. The pre-game tifo from the Timbers Army was epic, a Wizard-of-Oz themed display that, as with all Timbers Army tifo, made the rounds on social media. Here are posts, pics and videos from the Cascadia clash with Sounders FC on Aug. 24.

The anticipation for the Portland-Seattle derby started days in advance with some folks camping out overnight to get their spots in line.

At last, game day. With a 2 p.m. (Pacific) kickoff, game faces came out a little earlier than normal, but were in fine form. Even Portland's finest were RCTID.

It was a hot one in the Rose City as it can get in late August. And the warm summer sun sparked a lively energy at Providence Park even hours before kickoff.

For Cascadia Cup matches, you know the Timbers Army has something epic up their sleeves when it comes to tifo. Today's display did not disapoint. Click here to find a full video of the display.

Once the match kicked off, like all Portland-Seattle matches, it was intense. Diego Valeri found the crossbar on a deflected free kick early in the match.

Do we have an Abby Wambach sighting?

Late in the second half, the Timbers were able to break through on a brace from Fanendo Adi.
