Thorns FC's Christine Sinclair named 2014 BMO Canadian Player of the Year

PORTLAND, Ore. – Canada Soccer today announced that Portland Thorns FC forward Christine Sinclair has been selected as the 2014 BMO Canadian Player of the Year, as voted on by Canadian media (50 percent) and Canadian coaches and clubs (50 percent).

The Burnaby, B.C., native, who has won the award a total of 12 times, including the last 11 years, played every minute of the Canada Women’s National Team’s 11 matches in 2014, scoring one goal. In her career, the Canada Women’s National Team captain has 214 international caps and 148 goals – which ranks third all-time in women’s international soccer.

Sinclair appeared in 23 matches (22 starts) for Thorns FC during the 2014 NWSL regular season. In her second season with the club, Sinclair tallied seven goals and one assist, while leading the NWSL in shots (77) and shots on goal (40).
