Harrison Delbridge, OKCvPOR, 6.5.15

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Playing with 10 men for the majority of the match, T2 conceded two goals in the second half of a 2-0 loss against OKC Energy FC in front of 3,133 fans at Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City on Friday night. Portland was reduced to 10 men after defender Matt Rose received a red card in the 28th minute. The loss marked Portland’s first USL road loss since April 18 at Sacramento.

T2 (4-5-2, 14pts) controlled the early stages of the match, but OKC Energy FC (5-2-3, 18pts) capitalized on their man-advantage and scored two goals in the second half to secure all three points at home. Oklahoma City forward Kyle Greig tallied a brace in the match, upping his goal tally to five for the season.

Rose was shown a straight red card in the 28th minute for a tackle on Oklahoma City forward Danni Konig. The sides finished the match even on shots (13) despite OKC Energy FC's advantage.

Oklahoma City found a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute as Greig headed home a goal at the back post from midfielder Daniel Gonzalez’s cross across the box. Greig struck again and made it 2-0 in the 77th minute as he got on the end of a low pass inside the box from Konig, slotting the ball into the goal with his right foot.

T2 saw several close chances in the second half, including a shot from forward Rundell Winchester that was blocked on the goal line in the 90th minute. Looking to trim the deficit, Portland registered six shots in the final 10 minutes of the match, but were unable to find a breakthrough goal. Forward Kharlton Belmar finished with a team-high four shots.

Following Friday’s match, T2 travel to take on Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Sand Creek Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Wednesday, June 10; kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (Pacific). Wednesday’s road match will be available live online via a high-definition web stream at www.timbers2.com.
