On the second day of Algarve Cup action, three Thorns FC players saw action as Canada took on Belgium and Iceland squared off against Denmark.

Thorns FC forwards Christine Sinclair and Nadia Nadim both earned starts for their respective national teams, while Thorns FC midfielder Dagný Brynjarsdóttir not only started for her native Iceland, but captained the team for the first time ever.

While Brynjarsdóttir didn't score, her Iceland teammates dropped four goals on their Danish opponents.

For Denmark, however, all was not lost. Early in the second half, Thorns forward Nadim scored her second goal of the tournament – and first of the match – to bring her national side within striking distance of Iceland.

Thorns FC head coach Mark Parsons liked what he saw.

Meanwhile, Canada took down Belgium 1-0, as forward Summer Clarke scored the game-winner in the 89th minute of her first-ever appearance for the national team.

On Monday, Nadim's Denmark side will face Belgium in the final group stage match of the tournament, while Brynjarsdóttir and Iceland will take on Sinclair's Canada in a match that may decide the group.
